How to use carbide tungsten paint scraper?

I just bought a brand new tungsten carbide scraper yesterday and used it today. Three scrapes were great then suddenly only the edges of the blade are catching the wood leaving the middle untouched and making a screeching noise telling me something's not lining up right. I cleaned it, put it back together, tried turning it around, tried it on another piece of furniture and all the same .Also then started to jut and damaged my surface 😔I  was so excited to get started ! Do you think it's a faulty item or is it the users fault? I can't figure out what I could be doing wrong so I think it's faulty or been dropped at the shop or something.

It definitely sounds frustrating to run into that kind of problem right after getting started, especially when you were looking forward to using a new tool. From what you've described, it does seem like the scraper was working as expected initially, but then suddenly began behaving in a way that suggests something isn't right with either the blade alignment or the blade itself. If the middle of the blade is no longer making contact and you're getting that screeching sound, it's possible the blade could be slightly warped or has shifted inside the tool despite being cleaned and reassembled. 

 

It's unlikely that normal use for just a few scrapes would cause that kind of issue, especially with a tungsten carbide blade which is designed to be extremely durable. It’s possible that the tool may have been dropped before purchase or might have a manufacturing defect. But based on the steps you've already taken like cleaning, repositioning, and trying it on different surfaces it doesn’t sound like you’ve used it incorrectly. I’d recommend bringing it back to the store with your receipt and explaining what happened. They should be able to assess whether it’s a faulty item and help with a replacement or refund.
