Is this laminated floor repairable?

Is this laminated floor repairable?

I am looking at a 2 bedroom flat to buy, but in the living & dining area the laminated flooring has two gaps that run the length of the room. I was told that I would have to replace all of tbe laminated flooring by a business that sells laminated flooring, but I was wondering if there was a specialist business that specifically repaired such problems?

Re: Is this laminated floor repairable?

Hello @Neffrey1964

Thank you for sharing your question about repairing your laminate flooring. Laminate flooring often unlocks when a heavy object pushes the panel out of alignment. It could have been a sofa, refrigerator or a very heavy cabinet. The proper way to repair the flooring is to unlock the flooring area at the edge of the wall. Ideally, the smaller area that needs to be disassembled is the area you unlock. Please keep in mind that the skirting board will need to be taken off to start disassembly

When you reach the loose panel, I suggest putting in a bead of Selleys 500mL Aquadhere PVA Wood Glue Exterior Adhesive in the gap before pushing the panel back in. Make sure to wipe the excess glue off with a damp rag so you don't get glue overflow all over the joins. You'll need to use Capitol Laminate Floor DIY Installation Kit to reassemble the floor.

Re: Is this laminated floor repairable?

Hi Jeff (@Neffrey1964),

If you can't find any specialised business to perform this work, then you'll likely need to find a handyperson willing to pull it all up and relay. Most laminate flooring businesses will want to relay the whole lot with new product.

Keep us updated, and please reach out again if you need assistance.
