my house had stick on tiles in the kitchen + meals area and sheet laminate in the dining room
i assume the kitchen + meals area were from the 80's judging by the style.
I painted the ceiling, walls + doors with a hog bristle + paperbark combo.
Sanded the natural wood skirt boards and window frames and varnished them.
Decided i wanted to make my meals area the new computer area so its in the corner of the lounge instead of in the corner of the smallest bedroom of the house.
I used a paint scraper to lift the old stick on tiles and went with Winton 30x30 Charcoal stone tiles, and flowed them from the meals area into the kitchen.
I plan on using them in the dining room aswell but my lounge carpet is pretty old and dirty.
Ive owned the place 12yrs, it was a rental before i owned it, add a few dogs and today i decided its time to rip up the carpet and use the tiles in the lounge as well.
It'll be easier to clean with dogs, and i can use a large rug i have spare in the middle of the lounge room.
After ripping up the carpet and the carpet stays (is that what theyre called?) i had to use a bit of "turbo concrete bog" to fill in the chips where the nails were in the concrete foundation.
Ive run the paint scraper over any dirty spots on the concrete, swept and vac'd the foundation so its dust free.
It still looks a little dirty in some places but it doesnt scrape off. Not sure if i should mop the concrete or not as then i'd also have to wait for it to dry before i can start laying.
I'm lifting carpet one large section at a time and will just lay a few sqr metres each night so its not too overwhelming and i slowly get results as i go, to help inspire me to continue on.
Heres some pics of what i've done so far.

and this is todays effort starting on the lounge room.
