Wall hanging using China plates

What began as a simple wire garden sieve and a box of forgotten china has transformed into a stunning wall-mounted plate display! Using Bunnings essentials like Gorilla Glue, multipurpose wire, and Fiddly Bits spray, I repurposed old fencing into a charming feature piece. Each plate is thoughtfully secured to create a collage that celebrates vintage design with a modern twist.

Materials

  • Chicken wire sieve or garden wire frame
  • Assorted vintage plates
  • Gorilla Glue (for permanent bonding)
  • Fiddly Bits multi-purpose spray (cleaning/prepping surfaces)
  • Galvanised tie wire (to secure plates invisibly to the frame)
  • Small cable ties or wire cutters (optional for fine adjustments)

Tools

Wire cutters

Steps

Step 1

Clean each plate and the wire frame using Fiddly Bits spray, then carefully attach plates using Gorilla Glue for fixed pieces and galvanised wire for extra support, arrange in a balanced layout, secure everything snugly, and mount to the wall for an eye-catching vintage statement piece.

Re: Vintage Charm on the Wall: From Scrap to Showcase

Hi @kyle25990,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

This is such an interesting and creative way to display your decorative plates.

The garden sieves make a perfect backing to secure them in place and create a wonderful shape. With their fresh coat of paint, they make a nice backdrop for the heroes of the show.

Thank you for sharing.

Jacob
