Can anyone please help me with what these icons are on the hand drill and how to use them, and also what the numbers are and how to use them< Thank you for any information 😊 👍
The numbers are generally torque settings to be used with screw icon when putting in screws so you dont overdo it. When drilling holes should be on max. The other icon is a hammer as in hammer drill to be used when drilling masonary eg brick it makes the bit vibrate as it drills. JDE
Hi @KK64,
The rotating wheel with the numbers on it is your clutch settings. The clutch settings on a drill control how much torque (turning force) is applied before the drill stops turning. Lower settings are used for delicate tasks like driving small screws, while higher settings deliver more power for tougher materials.
The icons, from left to right, are hammer mode (hammer), driver mode (screw) and drill mode (drill bit). Hammer mode is used for drilling into heavier materials such as concrete or brick. It applies a percussive action while drilling that helps to fracture the material in front of the drill bit to help chip it away. Driver mode is used for driving in screws, and drill mode is used for standard drilling into softer materials like timber.
The switch that sits just below the red play button is the speed setting. 1 is lower speed, 2 is higher speed.
Let me know if you have any further questions or need recommendations for settings for a particular task.
