Hi there,
An internal passage door knob in my home has fallen apart. I've worked out the cause of this is a missing black clip on one side of internals of the knob - I've attached an image of the non broken side which shows this clip.
What can I purchase as a suitable replacement for this clip? I'd prefer to not have to buy an entire new door knob set!
Thank you ![]()
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Matthew12456. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about door knobs.
From the photo, what you have there is an E-clip, sometimes loosely referred to as a C-clip, but technically an E-clip because of the open “E” shape.
You can buy these in assorted packs. A good option is the Pinnacle black assorted E-clip pack from Bunnings. These packs include several sizes, so you have a reasonable chance of finding one that matches the shaft diameter inside your doorknob.
The important thing is the shaft size rather than the overall clip size. The clip needs to snap firmly into the groove without being loose or requiring excessive force. Door hardware can be quite tight on tolerances, and if the doorknob manufacturer used a proprietary size, you may find that none of the off-the-shelf clips are a perfect match. If that happens, replacing the full doorknob set may unfortunately be the only reliable option.
Take the clip with you to the store and compare it directly against the E-clips in the pack. That will give you the best chance of finding a suitable replacement without having to buy a whole new knob.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Mitchell, I will head in store and have a look as you have suggested.
Cheers
