Hello everyone,
Please let me know what type of screws I should use for Ramset 8 x 80mm Long Anchor RamPlug - 8 Pack
The product description says "Suitable for use with 10 - 14 gauge screws".
Are there a special type of screws for Ramset Plugs?
Or, can I use just any type of screws such as timber or plasterboard screws, etc. as long as they are 10 - 14 gauge?
Would 14 gauge screw perform better that 10 gauge screw?
Hi @alex27,
Thank you for your question.
These anchors work by expanding, so the larger the screw is, in terms of length and diameter, the more the anchor plug will expand and the more tension will be created. These Titan 14g x 75mm Batten Screws are about the largest screw you could use with these anchors, but they would be overkill in most situations.
Realistically, any screw that is 10-14 gauge and decently long will work, but there are better options when different materials are being screwed in place. The best screw for you really depends on what you are screwing in place.
If you can let me know what you are screwing in place, I'd be happy to make a recommendation.
Jacob
Hi, this post came up in a search for a similar question. I purchased Ramset 8 x 50mm universal anchors and hoping you can direct me to what screws to use? I’m hanging curtains in drywall. Thanks
Hello @camo123
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us.
I suggest using Zenith 10G x 75mm Tufcote® Countersunk Rib Head Treated Pine Screws - 10 Pack or similar. I also suggest looking at the Ramset 8 x 50mm Universal Anchor - 20 Pack as this set comes with screws included in the pack.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
