great idea! @timjeffries
looks amazing! nice work
Excellent job!
Unfortunately I had to remove my brick version from the front garden as it became a dumping ground for people's cigarette ends and rubbish.
That's a shame @ToolCollector! Did you build it yourself?

@ToolCollector that's such a shame! I did wonder about that when I built it but so far we really haven't had any issues. Someone once stole a tomato trellis out of it but the little old ladies that live across the road were so incensed by it that they hunted them down and stole it back!
@timjeffries Great to see you have caring neighbours - Beware the Vege Vigilantes!

I'm picturing your neighbourhood grannies looking something like this:
@Kermit I really need a like button right now.
Hi there, great job Tim...I'm interested in building something like that when I put my new carport up...any tips would be great....have you concreted the bits of wood in2 the ground...and what type of wood did you use? Any help or pointers would be great Tim? Kind regards Krusty
Thanks for your post @Krustyfundoh and a warm welcome to Workshop. I'm sure @timjeffries will be happy to help with your project. I hope you find plenty of other great tips, information and inspiration on Workshop. Thanks for joining the community.
@Krustyfundoh It's not in the ground at all actually. I used Cypress. Basically it's 4 posts down each side with the 200x50 capping and the tin tying it together. The only change I would make would be to have something running across the middle pulling it together as it wants to sag because it's so big and there's so much pressure with 5 cubic metres of volume in there.
Good luck! Can't wait to see some pics when you're done.

Hi @Doonesbaby, it's going really well thanks! I just planted out both beds with self seeded cherry tomato plants so am expecting to feed the street this summer.
The only element I would change would be to have built in support across the bed as they bowed a little when I first put soil in them. Otherwise they just get a light sand back and another oil every year or two.
That's fantastic! Well done you!
i love it wish i could make one need instructions on to make iim just doing wood work class now
Hi @scarlett,
Many thanks for joining in the discussion. I'm sure @timjeffries appreciates the positive feedback and hopefully he has some sketches or extra detail to help you replicate his great work. An alternative might be to build something like the raised garden bed project shared by @Adam_W here - https://www.workshop.com.au/t5/Best-of-Workshop/How-to-build-a-raised-garden-bed/ba-p/29674 - which includes plans, step-by-step instructions, and a full list of tools and materials.

well done.
I feel your pain. What special right do smokers have.
And...wow you understand IT! I discovered the 'problem' years ago. The chair and PC are just fine. It's the bit in the middle that's the problem. 🙂
Looks fab @timjeffries. Flowers/shrubs I guess. A vege patch would get harvested daily by passers by!🙂
