How to install a sliding door frame for a study?

We have an open study room in the corridor between front door (house entrance) and the kitchen / living areas. currently we are unable to use the study as it is too loud either way - a meeting in study is heard by everyone in the living / kitchen and vice-versa, the noise from kitchen/living rooms is huge disturbance for online meetings in the study room. We want to install at least two wooden or glass panels - one fixed and other sliding, which would isolate the study from the corridor and the noisy ambience in the house.

Any ideas / tips around this situation would be highly appreciated.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @hkjoshi. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about enclosing a room.

Have you considered installing a cavity slider on either side of the opening? You'll find them up to around 1200mm, so that would cover an opening of 2400mm. I recommend installing solid doors instead of hollow-core, as that will help prevent noise transfer through them.

Alternatively, you could certainly extend the wall and have only one door. You could have the partition extension enclose a cavity slider within it.

As we don't have any trades person in our family, we will need help in executing this solution. Do you think Bunnings could help us in installing the cavity slider and solid doors?

Hi @hkjoshi,

You might need to look towards services such as hipages or Airtasker to employ a tradesperson for your project, as we don't currently have a cavity slider installation offer.
