Hot on the heels of the recent Australian winners announcement, we are delighted to present New Zealand’s best D.I.Y. projects of 2024.
Congratulations to all Kiwis who shared projects with the Bunnings Workshop community in this year’s search. You can read more in the Spring issue of the New Zealand Bunnings magazine, out now.
Best kitchen makeover
Overhead stove rangehood cabinet
Bunnings Workshop member Arthur (@arfabuck) faced a challenge to hide a new rangehood following the installation of a new stove. The solution of a five-door cabinet utilising recycled timber also added valuable storage space.
Best upcycling makeover
Upgraded entry using Flexi Storage Clever Cubes
Flexi Storage Clever Cubes used as wall-mounted shelves, a low-cupboard for shoes doubling as a bench seat, plus paint and feature wallpaper helped transform an entryway. Community member Lilly (@LillyJ) did a great job transforming her entryway.
Best bathroom or laundry makeover
Garage laundry makeover
Transforming a corner of the garage into a spacious laundry, Workshop member Jason (@Hotwheelsnz) utilised Flatpax cabinet users, mosaic tiles and a timber benchtop. Flexi Storage shelves filled a gap between cabinets and provided room for a touch of style.
Best small project
Bedroom window seat
First time homeowners Hannah and Phillip created this curved bedroom window seat to take advantage of the view and as a nod to the area’s Art Deco heritage. The couple built a frame, then used bent ply with fluted lining boards attached for the front, painted in a serene green.
Best outdoor project
Workshop for Max and his dad
Needing a dedicated workspace after moving house, Bunnings Workshop community members Geoff and Max (@geoffc005) saved money by building a bespoke insulated shed complete with plenty of storage. The room can also be used as an external office or sleepout.
Best paint project
Girl’s nursery
Wanting to create a room that a girl will love for many years, creator Frankie chose pastel shades, a half feature wall and scalloped mirror. The colours used with Dulux Tikokino and Tokerau Beach.
