How to remove toilet seat with hidden fixings?

hi all, does anyone know how to remove this type of toilet seat? There are no screws or hidden caps etc. Trying to pop the caps with a flat head screw driver resulted in some movement but doesn't seem to do more and it is damaging the toilet. I found this link describing same problem but there was no fix besides brute forcing it which would mean damaging the toilet even more. Surely there is another way

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Having a look at your toilet seat alongside How to remove the toilet seat cover which you've linked to, the only way I can see to remove them without cutting them off is almost certainly to do with those caps.

Unfortunately, it looks like the hinges have worn down over time, so some damage to them is pretty likely. You could try spraying the caps with CLR Ready To Use Calcium Lime Rust Remover, allowing it to sit for 2-3 minutes and then trying to pry the cap off with your flathead screwdriver.

As you'll see in the other discussion, the solution their plumber ended up using was to hacksaw them off, which if things have seized completely may be your only option.

I havnt seen a toilet seat connection like yours before 😕

The link you showed was pretty comprehensive and pretty much has gone through my most likely "ways to disconnect" a toilet seat.

The last thing I can think of is maybe the pin connecting from the silver stand through ring of the seat and the actual seat. It could be a retractable pin? as in if you lift up the seat and ring and then use a screwdriver and push where the pin should be from the outside it may recess back into the silver stud.

Thanks for your suggestions! I have tried all options now and it looks like my only option will be to try break away the covers which may damage the toilet bowl so I will wait until it really becomes necessary to replace the seat.
