How to add wheels to TV stand?

Hello Workshoppers!

I just bought the stand for my TV, and had this vision of adding wheels to the bottom of it.

As there is no hole to screw in wheels, I was thinking about getting something like this:

Does anyone have any advice for this?

The TV Stand has 4 legs, all of which are ~20mm in diameter. I was looking for something the stand can slide into, be tightened, if that makes sense!

The legs of the Samsung Serif TV are built for static display only, they are not built for movement. Adding wheels to the legs is dangerous as it might unbalance the TV as the legs were never designed to hold the TV when in motion. It's a great idea, one that Samsung should have taken into consideration when they were designing the TV stand. Perhaps they did but minimalism won out.

I can only suggest getting a TV cabinet such as the White TV Entertainment Cabinet Unit and adding wheels to it. You then put the TV on top without its legs, it's low center of gravity and wide stance make it ideal as a TV stand on wheels.

My eyes did go into the "oh oh" mode when i was reading your question 🙂 then straight into a work around.

As @EricL has said the legs are built for a static support, not a mobile one. Having pushed loads of different objects around that look like this and supposodly have the ability to move with wheels I am very hesitant in suggesting wheels be added.

Work around but still think that I wouldnt want to trust my tv going South. 🙂

Make a rectangular frame up using some Ghost Gum styled timber decking boards. Think A fence paling photo frame look. This you could install some wheels under without an issue. The display stand could sit on top. Using something along the lines of Surface Gard 22mm Brown Round Screw-In - 4 Pack but upside down so the cup is facing upwards will help stop the feet wanting to walk.

The last part is I would only move the frame and tv around via a piece of rope attached to one end in a U shape. Attachment points Front and Back like a billy cart front, this is so there is only the weight of the tv being forced on the legs. I would still be extremley cautious over moving it as I can imagine that "oh no" moment way to easily.

I have those visions regularly - and have the photos to prove it. But in your case above my immediate thought is metal fatigue. The wheeled legs will 'spread' (it doesn't need to be much) with weight and flex back and forth with movement = metal fatigue at the leg base.

The ends are also tapered which I don't believe your wheeled attachments shown above are designed for.

Just an amateur's thoughts.

Agreeing with @EricL, definitely do not add wheels or any other modification to the TV legs. A mate of mine has had two replaced within 18mths due to the corner face splitting/cracking. The plastic body has had lots of issues with quality according to the local service agent. Dealing with Samsung on the 2nd occasion was lengthy and ended up with consumer affairs to settle.
