How to add an outdoor blind?

Hi. I have this space where I “temporarily” covered it with something but not aesthetically good looking and an eye sore. The plastic is just to prevent rain from coming over to the other side as I have something there. I’m looking for ideas and suggestions on what to install here on a permanent basis that looks good and ge t rid of the plastic.

I bought this from Bunnings about eight years ago.

Unfortunately I don't know the brand.

Basically it is housed in a unit you mount on the wall with clips and with a length of rod can wind it up/down.

Plastic 'balls' on each end with clips can anchor it when fully lowered.

After eight years of exposure it still looks fantastic (to me). I love it.

Just a thought.

Thank you for your question about a more permanent solution to protect your outdoor area from the elements.

@Noyade's example looks very similar to this Coolaroo 2.4 x 2.4m Graphite HeatShield Crank Operated Outdoor Blind, which could be a great solution.

Alternatively, there are cafe blinds which are going to be better at keeping the rain out but look somewhat similar to what you already have in place.

You could also use merbau slatted panels to create a more permanent structure, however, this would still allow some weather through.

I really like @Noyade 's suggestion. Its pretty much my first thought when I was reading your question. Bistro blinds would work but have that "feel/look" of plastic. If you want a privacy screen then timber slats would be good but depending on which way the rain comes from they may still let some water through.

A very fancy setup could be to frame out the area and instal some stained glass windows in it. I liek stained glass but it can make a place feel dated. So its always a 50/50 feel for me.

I'm also with @Noyade on his solution. There are also similar solutions available that utilise tracks down the sides of the outer poles with custom dimension blinds controlled manually or battery/ac powered. the advantage of the side tracks is that the blinds a retained even with strong winds.
