How to build a DIY chair adaptor for walking pad?

Hi team,

Got an interesting one for you.

I am looking to DIY chair adaptor to fit a walking pad under it as in the pic above. Which timber, wheel(non-swiver), screw, timber sander for smooth finish and black paint product would you pick for such project? Cheers!!.

Hi Jason,

Its a DIY version of this chair. Basically, the issue is you need to take out the walking pad(often heavy) everytime you decide to sit after a walk in absence of the chair adapter.

This chair adapter would eliminate the need to remove the walking pad encouraging the user to sit, stand & walk multiple times in a day to avoid all sorts of issues that comes with hours of sendentary sitting or standing.

I suggest using Specrite 1200 x 600 x 18mm Timber Multi Use Pine Panel for the top panel and 70 x 35mm Framing MGP10 Untreated Pine 2.4m for the sides. I propose looking at the Move It 40mm White Plastic Heavy Duty Swivel Castor. You'll need to do some testing to see which screw will into the feet of the chair.

The general assembly method will be to measure the size of the footprint of the chair and cutting a square shape where the feet of the chair will sit comfortably on the square panel. Cut the appropriate length to build the sides using the 70x 35 piece of timber. Join them together using timber screws and then attach the wheels. Bring the feet of your chair to test which screw fits the hole of the feet where the chair rollers use to be. Once you get it to working fix the chair to the chair adaptor and see if glides smoothly.
