What to plant to screen a Colorbond fence?

About to move into a north/south oriented home. The south facing windows look out onto a colourbond fence. Yuck. What can I plant between the path and the fence (about 40cm) that will be tall enough to be seen to be seen from the windows BUT will cope with no sunlight whatsoever. Thanks in advance.

I love the ideas especially the lattice design but the biggest problem I have is selecting a climber that will thrive with NO direct sunlight.

Hello @Aspy

There are some climbers that are more shade tolerant than others. For example, star jasmine ( Trachelospermum jasminoides ) can handle shade, while other types may require more sun. Some hedges such as the Murraya paniculata (Mock Orange or Orange Jasmine) and Viburnum tinus can grow in indirect sunlight as well. If you wish to test the area, I propose getting a star jasmine and testing it in that shaded fence area and see if it grows with the available light in that spot.
