Timber moulding, paint and new hardware were used to help transform a kitchen on a small budget.
The project
I gave our tired old kitchen cupboards a fresh new look with a bit of preparation, paint, and some patience! Using Bunnings-sourced tools and supplies, I sanded, primed, and painted the cabinetry, replaced the handles, and added a few styling touches to elevate the whole space - all on a budget.
It’s amazing how much difference a bit of elbow grease can make. Proof that you don’t need a full reno to completely transform your kitchen!
Steps
Step 1
Remove all laminate doors and old hardware for patching and sanding. Patch old hardware holes and sand with 180 grit on the orbital sander. Apply Zinsser Bullseye 123 primer to both sides of the doors.
Step 2
Measure and cut Porta timber moulding, apply with tape loosely, and fix in place with brad nailer. Fill mitred corners and lightly sand. Apply a coat of Zinsser Bullseye primer to seal timber moulding.
Step 3
Apply two coats of Dulux Aquanamel to both sides of doors.
Step 4
Apply chosen new hardware and style the space.
