Elevated pet food station

Question

Recycled floorboards and some varnished Tasmanian Oak timber were used to create an elevated feeding station for a pet cat.

The project

Here is a simple little project to make life easier for your cat. I read that a cat's feeding bowl is better if it was elevated a little bit, making it easier for the cat to digest the food. I made this stand using left over pieces of floorboard and timber for the legs. Overall size is 430 mm long x 200 mm wide x 120mm high.

Steps

Step 1

Cut timber plank to size. Mark out circle size to suit bowls. Cut holes for bowls using router and circle jig. Sand all edges. Measure and cut four legs.

Step 2

Drill and screw legs to timber top. Apply two coats of varnish. Add rubber pads for bottom of legs.

Step 3

I made this paper towel holder with the offcuts.

That looks great @JoeAzza . Very impressed with your idea of making paper roll holders out of the cut-outs.

In case anyone is thinking of making one for feeding a dog, I'd recommend adding a strip across the back because dogs tend to have a strong licking action and flick food out onto the floor or wall.
