Concrete pipes and lots of soil and mulch helped create a bountiful vegetable garden.
The project
We love to live outdoors: cooking barbecues and foraging from our own vegetable garden whenever possible. We wanted to create height in the garden so it feels like a feature in itself, with plants cascading and growing at varying levels for aesthetic appeal. The veggie garden sits right in front of our barbecue area, making it easy to pick fresh herbs and vegetables as we cook. It’s both practical and a beautiful focal point while entertaining or preparing meals outside.
Steps
Step 1
Earthwork: removed and cleared soil creating space for our veggie garden; placing large concrete pipes.
Step 2
Plenty of family trips to Bunnings lately: stocking up on soil, mulch, and all the herbs to get our garden started. Mixed up a healthy soil blend to lay the foundations for our veggie garden. The kids loved getting their hands dirty, adding soil and worms from our worm farm to boost the mix.
Step 3
Planting herbs and flowers to bring our garden to life.
Step 4
The fun part begins! Watching everything grow and picking fresh ingredients for dinner.
