How to add laundry bench over washing machine?

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice on how to place a wooden or timber slab over my washing machine to create a cleaner, more functional surface and add a bit of design to this small room. I’ve marked in red on the photo where I’d like the board to sit.

My only issue is that I’m not sure how to secure the board without drilling into the walls, especially since they’re brick and I’d prefer not to screw anything in. I was thinking about using those heavy-duty adhesive hinge/support brackets underneath the board to hold it up, as there wouldn’t be much weight on it. I mainly want to use the surface for things like my baby bath—a small one that doesn’t weigh much.

Does anyone have suggestions or experience with this? Any guidance would be really appreciated!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

This is very similar to what was discussed in How to add laundry benchtop in a rental?

A simple L-shaped bench made from a timber panel, which utilises the small gap to the right of the washing machine as space for the vertical leg, some angle brackets to join the two panels together and some anti-vibration squares to sit between the washing machine and the benchtop could be a simple solution.

This would completely take away any need for fixing into the walls, which seems to be the key point.
