Does the AEG bench grinder come with a magnifying lens?

I promise to stop asking these questions.

Last time.

I purchased this bench grinder recently and it was a spur of the moment decision. I took it home and had a look at the Bunnings online page.

It mentions a magnifying lens…

But no lens in my kit or mentioned in the manual.

I can see the year 2020 in print.

I'm not fussed in obtaining one - just being curious and playing with this new Workshop canvas.

But would this be old stock, different model = shop soiled - ?

My interpretation of that product description is that the magnifying lens is actually built into one of the plastic eye shields, rather than being a separate attachment. Most bench grinders come with two standard clear eye shields, and on some models the shield on the fine‑grit wheel has a slightly thickened or curved centre section that provides mild magnification. It’s generally only a small amount, just enough to help with close detail work.

It would make more sense from a manufacturing point of view for them to mould that magnification directly into the shield rather than include a separate lens in the box. That’s why you won’t see a standalone magnifying glass listed in the manual.

If both eye shields were included in the box, have a look to see whether one feels thicker or has a slight curve or distortion when you look through the centre. That would likely be the magnifying one.

I should have mentioned that I have it all assembled. No magnifying eye shield included.

You can just make it out on the right shield of Bunnings Online image…

Like your Full Boar Drill, we'd need to know the model number, with the serial number and date of production being handy, to track down if spare parts are available.

If you can grab a quick photo of the identification plate, then I can certainly reach out to AEG when they reopen tomorrow to see if it's available.

When you upload an image into the editor, a menu appears at the top of the image. You can click the second icon to change the default image size. It can be small, medium or large. This image is small:

If you need to edit your post, just click the three dots inside a circle at the top write of the post. An edit option will appear as long as it is within 24 hours of first creating your post.
