There is a hole in my front entrance door and I want to repair it. I am thinking to remove the lock, putting in some wood filler and then sandpapering it, before drilling new pilot holes for the lock. What do you guys think?
Hi @sayurub
I'm thinking that screw has missed the solid wood edge and gone straight through the masonite into the door cavity?
Hello @sayurub
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your door lock.
What you currently have is something similar to the Ikonic Brown Rim Night Latch. It is possible to use Turbo 175ml Builders Bog Flexipack to repair the damage, but it would not provide you with the same holding strength. The undamaged section of your door would provide a much better mounting point. I propose moving your current night latch to a higher location on your door and patching the hole on your door with the builder's bog.
It would generally involve drilling a new hole in your door for the axle rod that joins the night latch and the key lock outside your door. You'll also need to relocate the receiver to the new position.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1and @Nailbag for their recommendations.

I would be inclined to follow @Eric advice and fill that hole, then move the lock up say 15mm to clear the builders bog area. This will mean loving the striker up 15mm and using bog to fill the gab. This will give you the strongest fixing repair. Nailbag
Good Evening @sayurub
@EricL and @Nailbag have suggested the same thing thats in my mind :) Remove and bump up by 15-30mm and re-install. Then builders bog the old holes. Builders bog really works well but I am unsure it has the same strength as the original door for the lock.
