Possibly available from Bunnings?
Hi @Noyade,
That’s a fairly specific size. It’s somewhat similar to an inline skate wheel in appearance, but it’s noticeably wider than standard skate wheels, which are usually around 24 mm thick.
Because of that extra width, it doesn’t match the common sizes used for skating, so it wouldn’t be a direct replacement if that’s what you had in mind. We don’t keep this style of wheel in stock, and I don’t believe there’s a standard off-the-shelf equivalent at that size.
Do you know what this wheel came off? That might help identify a suitable replacement.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
Hi Mitch.
It belongs to a Titan electrical mobility chair. I have tried a few distributors but none have replied back so far.
Hard to explain, but gutters, driveways and kerbs are providing angles that won't allow the drive wheels to make contact - if you approach them slowly.
The trick is to "run at the incline" so that momentum pushes the chair forward far enough for the drive wheels to engage. But this is slowly destroying the small (above) front wheels.
I'm just asking in advance, when they completely turn to mincemeat, are there replacements or something similar. But a larger diameter will only make the situation worse.
Hope that makes sense.
Interestingly I saw the same wheels today on those child holder thingys (terminology? - high chair?) at McDonalds.
Hello @Noyade
Have you considered using larger wheels or rubber types?
The body/frames will of course need to be removed, but their larger diameter means that they will meet up with any inclines or gutters sooner. Testing for proper safe operation will be essential.
Eric
Sorry for the slow reply @EricL.
"larger wheels"
But I believe larger wheels will make the situation worse. I should have a solution @ 1600 hrs today. We're both quite excited and will be an excellent example of how wonderful human beings can be. I'll post photos later if all goes well. Cheers!
😁
14" wheels. 👍️
This does appear to be a much better solution!
Cheers @EricL
We road tested it this morning covering a lot of areas where the Titan failed to go - 100% better. Julie is thrilled.
And if I may - a good time to put a plug in for Ozito's battery wrench. This little tool is superb. I thought 60Nm would be of little use but after tightening nuts, a hand held wrench couldn't improve on the tightness.
I would highly recommend it - says me who once said I would never buy any more battery tools!
I tightened everywhere on the scooter I could find a use for it.
