How to identify damaged wire in wall?

i was drilling for curtains in my front room, drill went through wall into cavity and i saw 2 orange colour wires looking things and hardly could see the copper or something inside( pics attached)

Now all lighting in house is working no issues all sockets working.

That wall cavity was literally 2 mm inside the wall when i drilled

The wires are shaped weirdly and looks like a plus sign when i drilled through. Wires seems to be going vertically plus horizontaly.

I do not have doorbell cables or security alsrm cables and internet is working as well

there are no sockets light bulbs on that wall. This is a double brick wall at the very front of the house.
now i do have electricity gas meter attached outside the house but not on the same wall.
i called the electrician and showed him pics also showed him on video call and he said its nothing and i can go ahead and screwed it and finished hanging my curtains which i did

Or it could be related to that window maybe???

Now I am scared if it was actually something to be worried about.

Please advise if i should do something about it or not.

In the interest of health and safety, I suggest not drilling, touching or mounting anything into that hole. If you already mounted the rail, I recommend not touching anything else in that assembly. I strongly recommend getting an electrician as soon as possible to inspect the wire just to make sure that it is not live or connected to anything important in your house. It would be best to have it repaired properly or at least get the electrician to make it safe.

i called that electrician again

He is convinced it is not a wire

I googled and did my research and since it is too close to window and given no socket plugs switches on that wall it is likely a fibreglass mesh that contractors did when they installed window. Thats why it just went into cavity and not in a pipe or conduit.
i searched and found the same colours mesh in bunnings thats why it is both vertical and horizontal.
i am quite convinced it is not a live wire or hazardous

I agree that the vertical and horizontal configuration makes it appear less like a wire and more like some type of mesh. However, my only problem with your plasterboard mesh tape theory is that these tapes are classically white or cream, and their mesh is perhaps a bit finer than what you've shown in the image. The squares on those mesh tapes are around 1.5-2mm.

My advice would still have an electrician pop round to double-check, just for the peace of mind. Have you run an AC detector around the hole to see if there are live wires?

Unfortunately, no one here will be willing to risk your safety by conclusively stating it's not an electrical wire.

If it gives you any solace - you did well in identifying 'something' behind the wall.

Did the drill bit jamb?

Considering the scale, it all looks very odd. The photos below are a 5mm gyprock hole with 2.5mm active (not actually active) cable. That's smaller than the active component of household wiring.

We await your electrician's visit/verdict - please keep us in the 'loop.'
