How to attach wire to a pergola for a grape vine?

Question

I have a powder coated aluminium pergola and I want to grow some ornamental grape vines over it.  The wire structure has already been provided in the pergola ceiling but I believe I need some additional vertical guide wires to train the grape vine vertically.  What wire do you suggest I use?  And what do I need to attach the wire to the top and bottom of the vertical posts?  There needs to be some space (approx 100mm) between the wire and the post.

One way to disguise the angle bracket, I suggest spray painting it the same colour as your pergola posts along with the wire so that it blends in with the posts. Once the grape vine starts growing in earnest the wire will be completely hidden from view. You can always choose a better-looking angle bracket, but my best suggestion is to make sure that the bracket is rated for outside use.

Ok, scratch the L shaped bracket. :)

How about a piece of square bar screwed to the side of the the last horizontal support (where you proposed vine is) and instead of a wire use a chain. That would definently give something for a vine to grow on and look quiet nice as well. The base you could have something heavy to hook it to (pot, pot filled with concrete and a hook type deal)

There are shorter lengths (you only really need a meter with around 200mm overhang.)

I would spray paint it before install so it dosnt rust.

I think @Noyade is after the powder coated aluminium so it will match what you already have.

Thanks for responses. I can see the logic of the L shaped bracket but I'm not loving the aesthetic.  @Noyade I don't have any more of the powder coated aluminium.  What were you thinking I would do with the powder coated aluminium?
