Pinnacle shelving - adding more rails

Question

Hi everyone, picked up the Pinnacle shelving units for the garage. Unfortunately, they do not have spare rails to purchase to add more horizontal rows.

Any thoughts on how to add more rails ? Would aluminium right angled lengths work and hold up ply if I bolt them on the ends ?

Thanks for your responses ! Attached is the full set (could setup as either all upright or in this split config). Dimensions: 1200mm x 540mm wide

The locking mechanism indeed looks generic @Noyade dimensions could be problem with the width - 540mm wide Craftright sets are around $150 I think.

So it just didn't make sense. Also now that its being used as a 'shoerack and random items shelf' it needs to be shallower so I can actually use the space.

Also, thanks for noticing, yes the top links have moved indeed. I'll get them aligned. The slotted angle looks like a solution on the cheap to put this to good use , thanks @Nailbag for the suggestion! @Dave-1 and @JacobZ Thanks for suggestions, I'll keep the weight in mind. its just for kids stuff and shoes.

What size is this shelf @goWarriors?

I went with Craftright. I found it hard to believe they were only $42 each, so I bought four with one to cannibalize parts. Pleased as punch with the quality. The locking mechanism looks generic? Go to Bunnings and have a look.

Hi @goWarriors

I have 3 sets of the same shelving units. I used this metal-mate slotted angle bolted to the legs to add another shelf to each one. It meant drilling holes in the legs and new rails with a sharp HSS drill bit. Then an angle grinder to get them to length and a flap wheel to smooth off the burrs.
