How to cover broken glass splashback on window sill?

Hi everyone, I’d like to fix or cover with something this broken tile on the interior window sill. Ideally something that doesn’t involve a lot of work or replacing the tile. I was thinking of some sort of panel to glue on the top, to end up flush with the window frame (7-8mm) as per photo, and then use a 90degrees trim for a finished work.

Tot length of the tiled sill is 1500mm

Any idea is welcome thanks in advance 👍🏻

I've gotta say, that's a bit of a tricky thickness to find materials for.

How deep is the sill? It looks somewhere around 200mm. Would that be pretty close?

At first, I thought something timber like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/90-x-8mm-1-2m-clear-pine-dressed-board_p0097538 could be an option, but it doesn't fit the dimensions perfectly. You could certainly use something like this, but you'd need to use multiple pieces which could look a bit average.

The next thought I had was some fibre cement sheet as there are options that are pretty close in terms of thickness.

The best option I think would be to tile over it with some tiles such as these https://www.bunnings.com.au/decor8-tiles-30-x-30cm-grey-como-grigio-square-porcelain-mosaic-tile_p0044486 which are 6mm thick. The slight variance in thickness could be accounted for with your tile adhesive, and then they could be finished with a tile trim such as this https://www.bunnings.com.au/qep-8mm-x-2-5m-silver-mosaic-tile-trim_p6650276 .

Just to add to the suggestions made, I propose looking at using https://www.bunnings.com.au/boyle-1-5m-x-45cm-self-adhesive-film-moroccan-blue-tiles_p1662780 or the https://www.bunnings.com.au/ideal-winton-457-x-457mm-carrara-marble-self-stick-vinyl-tile_p0844796 to temporarily cover the glass tiled surface. They can be cut to size to cover just the top section, and they can also be removed should you need to replace it with a new cover. Please keep in mind that these are temporary solutions and not long-term covers. Ideally at some time in the future the broken glass tile will need to be replaced.

I was thinking of a splashback piece of material cut to size. I just had a quick squiz on Bunnings and found

I wonder if you talked to the special orders desk at your local Bunnings you may be able to order one to a particular size? I did think of timber first as @JacobZ suggested but was thinking to try and match it as much as possible. The floating floor material that @EricL has suggested would also be a good option and a lot cheaper. Not sure if you can get an offcut of the splashback but may be worth asking.

thanks everyone for the advices! I will go with the vinyl adhesive tiles! The splash back suggested by Dave1 would have been great but I’ll go over budget with that.
also the adhesive film is a good idea, but I imagine I would feel the uneven surface underneath where the crack is

My best advice is to wipe the surface of the glass tile with https://www.bunnings.com.au/diggers-125ml-isopropyl-alcohol-125ml_p1564443 and a paper towel to make sure that there is no residual grease or oil on the surface. Once the alcohol has dried off you can begin sticking the adhesive tiles. Please remember to test fit before committing the vinyl to the surface of the tile.
