How to seal shed before framing?

Hey all!

I have been trawling through the various how to seal your shed posts but I haven't found what I need just yet so thought I would ask away.

I have a 6x7.2m shed that I want to convert into an art studio/office space. I am looking to frame it up and line with gyprock etc.

However I have a few larger gaps at the base of the shed than the standard sikaflex won't cover. The other issue is the shed overhands the slab and the Colourbond is over pavers. I am wondering what my options were?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

You've probably gathered this from reading through other posts, but sealing sheds so they are watertight can be tough because they aren't really designed to be perfectly weathertight like a house is. The gold standard is a shed sitting on a rebated slab, so any water hits the edge of the rebate and doesn't rise up into the shed. Unfortunately, it is not something you can really do in post.

In your situation, the pavers on the outside make it a bit challenging because the gaps between the pavers will allow water through. This means sealing along the bottom edge of the shed from the outside won't really work.

So, I'm thinking the best option might be to attach an aluminium angle to the inside of the colorbond to bridge the gap to the slab. I would run a good thick bead of https://www.bunnings.com.au/sika-600ml-concrete-grey-sikaflex-11fc-purform_p0628966 along the bottom edge at the front where it sits on the slab and add some daubs along the flat sections of the colorbond then press it in place against the colorbond and the edge of the slab.

You could then fill the gaps in the corrugation behind the angle with some expanding foam or foam filler rod and seal on top of them with the Sikaflex 11FC Purform.

In theory, this would allow water to get in under the colorbond, but the solid bead beneath the bottom of the angle would prevent any water building up and getting into the shed.
