How can I fill this gap in my tile?

I recently completed a kitchen renovation with my dad who has the skills to do so. An unexpected result from tearing apart the old kitchen was this groove where a panel of wood sat in it. I thought this panel sat on top of the tiles but as you can see it doesn’t.

Does anyone have suggestions to fill this? I don’t have spare tiles that match. I am not sure silicone or grout would look good either but open to suggestions.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

Unfortunately, with a gap that narrow and no spare tiles available, there isn't really a perfect repair that will disappear completely.

If you can find a tile with a similar colour and thickness, you may be able to cut a small infill piece to fit the gap, then set it in place with tile adhesive and grout around it, but matching the existing tile closely enough can be difficult.

Otherwise, I think your best options are either grout or a colour-matched silicone. Grout would provide a harder finish and could blend reasonably well if you can find a close colour match. A flexible silicone is another option, but it may be slightly more noticeable depending on the colour.

Given the gap is only around 20mm wide, I'd be inclined to fill it with the closest matching grout you can find and see how it looks. If you aren't happy with it, you could always remove it later and replace it with a sliver of the closest tile you can find.
