Best anchors for shelving on engineering 3-hole brick?

Hi. I'm planning on mounting two shelves of 1400x175x20mm in the kitchen - oregon timber. The shelves will hold glass pantry jars - so between 15-20kg per shelf. I've got Carinya black hanging lipped angle brackets 185x185, three per shelf, so spaced about 65cm apart. The walls are cement rendered engineering red brick. I was planning on using 6x60mm dynabolt masonry anchor sleeves, however it seems the bricks are 3-hole, i.e. once I've drilled 25mm in, I hit air. Would love advice on what anchors / screws to use - i.e. do I need to go the chemical route, or would a 60mm, or even a 34mm countersunk dynabolt masonry anchor sleeve work?

I propose using chemical anchors for your wall due to the type of bricks that you have. I suggest looking at using https://www.bunnings.com.au/ramset-300ml-chemset-ultrafix-plus_p2264757 in combination with https://www.bunnings.com.au/ramset-multifit-sieve-4-pack_p2260417 and https://www.bunnings.com.au/ramset-m10-x-130mm-galvanised-chemset-stud-10-box_p0261452 . These three items joined together will provide you with a good wall anchor even with the type of bricks that you have.

Thanks Eric for such a quick reply.

The Carinya brackets I have seem to only allow for a screw or anchor 6-7mm in diameter which would seem to rule out the M10 studs and most of the other chemical studs I've looked at. 20kg is the absolute outside limit I estimated just to be on the safe side, likely most of the time it'll be around 10kg on each shelf, don't know if that makes a difference.

My only other suggestion is to perhaps get larger angle brackets that will take M10 bolts.

I like masonry anchors for brick work, less chance of cracking a brick (personal feeling) and they really lock in. Plus they can be removed easily.

G'day Em82, Erics suggestion of the Chemical anchors is the way to go for sure. Ainslee, a good friend of mine made a video on the whole process which breaks it all down into easy to do steps. The only issue that may come up is that you need to drill a 16mm hole in the wall which may be wider than your bracket 🤔 In any case, here is the link to Ainslee's video. Good luck!

There seems to be a lot of overkill going on here. Everybody seems to be looking at the 20kg and trying to account for the whole weight with one fixing and that won't be the weak point, the thickness of the brick will be. Also the force on the fixing will not be 20kg as most of the force will be exerted downwards not outwards The outwards force is an angular force and I forget how to calculate that but to give you an example I installed a wall mounted tumble drier on four of these Ramplugs and it has been up there for 10 years so far and that is a dynamic force.

In your case with 6 fixings only 3 will really be under any force and that is the top one on each bracket and all 6 will share the weight so 20/6 is less than 4kg each. allowing double for the top ones 8kg is a more realistic figure. Also remember that you may well hit a solid section of the brick with some which will give even better strength.

Thanks all for the input, sounds like there are a few different approaches. If I want to go chemical anchors sounds like I'll need new brackets, or I can try 6x100mm masonry screws. The only nylon masonry plugs I can find less than 8G seem to be too short sadly. Will let you know what we end up doing!
