Nursery mural under the sea

The project:

This is our mural in our baby boys bedroom, I wanted something unique and special for a first baby and we absolutely love how it turned out!

- Materials:

Dulux paint (blue base colour + sample pots of darker blue, tan and browns):

Painters tape:

Paint roller, edger & tray:

- Step 1:

Measure mural height and create a straight line across the wall with a spirit level and painters tape.

- Step 2:

using white paint, seal the tape.
Using edger cut in blue paint.

- Step 3:

use roller to put on base coat.

- Step 4:

Use sample pots and painted rocks, coral, seaweed etc.

- Step 5:

attach decal purchased from Etsy

What a beautiful nursery. The combination of the hand-painted underwater scene and the decals has created a lovely calming space with plenty of personality. I'm sure your little one will enjoy looking at all the sea life as they grow.

Do you happen to have any before photos of the room? It would be great to see the transformation from a blank wall to the finished mural, as I'm sure it would inspire other members considering a feature wall for a nursery or child's bedroom.

Nursery mural - nearly 40 years ago- painted over now. Photos found by my brother yesterday, no comparison to what you can do with digital/phone cameras these days. Hand painted from old house paint (oil) plus a few extra bright colours purchased. When the kids grew a little older - they thought the blue bear on the top looked rather sinister.

I'm not sure sinister is the right word. I'd say the blue bear looks mischievous.
