lots of MDF white primed trim porters yacht race paint

Mitre saw drill nail gun

- Step 1:

step one gutting room and prepping walls and lining ceiling with v boards

- Step 2:

add shelving plus decorative trim cornices

- Step 3:

The amount of detail you've put into this home library is just superb. This is an incredible labour of love and a dream space for any book lover. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding, with every shelf, moulding and trim finished with remarkable precision and attention to detail. The Porter's Yacht Race colour gives the room a rich, sophisticated feel that perfectly complements the custom rail ladder and fireplace, creating a library full of warmth and character. It's easy to see the care and craftsmanship that went into every stage of the build.

On a side note, I see that you have a collection of figures and other items in your library. Can you please tell us from what movie is that futuristic pistol from? I have a few pieces at home, but I can't identify your pistol.

Over the last few decades, architecture and interior design have increasingly embraced minimalism — clean lines, monochrome palettes, geometric shapes, and the removal of unnecessary details.

Personally, I’m much more fascinated by the opposite: the beauty of complexity, where every detail is intentionally added for decoration and character. Those details tell the story of the owner’s taste and personality, rather than simply reflecting what is popular at the time.

Absolutely amazing project! Huge respect for bringing this level of craftsmanship and character back.

While I do appreciate minimalism from a purely practical standpoint, specifically because it removes places for dust to settle, I completely agree with your view that complexity and craftsmanship in design is much more interesting.

I can't say I've ever been in awe of something with clean lines, simple colour palettes and very few angles, nor can I imagine too many others have, but something like this with craftsmanship and complexity in every single detail is much more memorable and awe inspiring.

It is certainly the most memorable home library I've seen.
