The project:
My partner and I just bought our first home and I wanted the first room I completed to be dedicated to him. As he likes a drink and games on the weekend, making him a whiskey den/ games room in this area was top priority. It started as a completely bare room, with cream walls, and a hunt to find the perfect marketplace furniture to manage on a small budget.

Monarch 0.8-2.0m Dual Extension Comfort Grip Pole - Bunnings Australia
- Step 1:
Clear out the room of mess that had accumulated from the move. (I had sourced bookshelves, and a cabinet from marketplace at the time of this first picture)
- Step 2:
I used Uni-Pro multi purpose filler to patch the walls before sanding them down with a fine sanding sponge once they dried.
- Step 3:
I then put down Paint Partner drop cloths, and used Scotch Blue ProSharp to mask up the walls
- Step 4:
I cut in the edges with the Pro Renovator Trim brush, and Dulux Raku Paint
- Step 5:
I used Dulux paint in the colour Raku. I ended up applying 2 coats, allowing to dry overnight in between coats.
- Step 6:
I sanded and painted the light switch covers, and cabinets in the same colour
- Step 7:
Once dry, I arranged the cabinets, rolled down the massive rug (Also from Bunnings), and set to work decorating the room
- Step 8:
The end result, before the pool/ Air hockey table went in.
The bar fridge upgrade is detailed on a separate post. I really wanted it to match the room, rather than be a big white rectangle in a dark room, so decided to give it a makeover.
