How to install hinges on wardrobe doors?

Question

I’m building my dream wardrobe and quite happy with where I got to so far.

But hinges have me spinning. I’m using the specrite pine panels and have 26mm on the outside and 18mm for the doors. I didn’t think that 110 degree full overlay hinges wouldn’t make the door sit flush with the outside of the side panel being 26mm. Of course there is a 8mm gap.

How can I mitigate this? I read that there are extra wide hinges but can’t find them. Or go back to standard hinges that will stick out the side? Or live with the gap?

I should have maybe designed it with inset doors but it’s not the look I was going for.

Not sure if this information will help, hopefully it will solve your problem.

If not, another idea would be to reduce the thickness of the 22mm panel to 19 mm, using a router , by marking out the hinge that is mount to the carcass  22mm panel. Then re fit the hinge back to the original position. Hope this helps solve the problem

Im not 100% sure on the spacing but what @Nailbag and @EricL have suggested is the way I would try. When I was first adjusting my kitchen cabinets it took awhile to get my head around the adjustment process.

Assuming the hinges have been installed correctly, then all you need to do is adjust the two screws on each hinge a 1/4 turn at a time. The front screw controls horizontal alignment left/right. The rear screw (depending on brand/model) typically pushes the door in/out. But just start with the front screw. Once you get going with the adjustments you will quickly learn how they operate.
