How to remove timber railing from kitchen cabinetry?

I have a timber railing on my kitchen shelf that I would like to remove. It has been stapled in down the bottom, I have managed to pry these up, but it has also been nailed in on the side, one nail each side. Any ideas for how to remove without buying a multi-tool? Looking for a budget option that won’t damage the cabinetry.

My suggestion would be to use a fine-toothed hand saw to cut the timber rail as close to the side wall as possible. This https://www.bunnings.com.au/trojan-200mm-dovetail-saw_p0591239 or this https://www.bunnings.com.au/trojan-360mm-tenon-saw_p0191072 should do the trick.

The nails used in cabinetry will be very fine brad nails, so you shouldn't have any real trouble cutting through them. If they sit a little bit proud of the cabinet sidewall once the timber has been removed, you can use some end cut pliers to cut the nail flush with the timber.

Do your best to keep damage to the cabinetry to an absolute minimum, but you can always fill holes and minor scrapes with coloured timber filler, just try to avoid large patches of damage as they can be obvious.
