How to replace valve on Caroma toilet?

My toilet makes so much noise when flushed, so I want to try replacing the inlet valve in with the Fluidmaster Bottom Entry Toilet Inlet Valve in the hope that this will help.

Appreciate suggestions if this might work, and if I still need to keep the old grey fill valve thing on the left.

Hi @Mumma_DIY,

Unfortunately, DIY plumbing work might include replacement of a washer, but the replacement of an entire inlet valve is not considered maintenance and would need to installed by a plumber.

However, regarding your questions, the grey float is part of the existing inlet valve and the

includes its own float mechanism.

The Fluidmaster valve is not designed as a quiet valve, though being a more modern design could produce less noise.

Your plumber will be able to find the installation instructions in the packaging.

Have you tried turning the inlet tap on the wall down? That's my go to when we have a baby in the home. By reducing the rate of water entering the cistern it typically reduces the noise of re-filling. It will take longer to fill the cistern though.
