Could paddle drill bit be use instead of a holesaw drill bit?

Hi all,

I would like to drill a hole in my wooden bedside table cabinet so that I could hide my powerboard and wires in the drawer.

Trying to find out if I could use my paddle drill bit (attached pic) instead of a holesaw drill bit. Also trying to avoid buying the holesaw drill bit as I foresee that I won't have any other use for it.

Also mindful that the hole that the paddle drill bit could create will not be big enough for the powerboard to go through.

Would like to know if anyone have any ideas on how to drill a hole big enough for powerboard using this paddle drill bit.

Unfortunately, from a D.I.Y. perspective, the only solution would be to create a hole large enough for the largest part of the assembly to pass through. Whether that is the plug, or the power board, I couldn't say, but I suspect it would likely be the plug end.

Having measured a few plugs around my place, the diameter seems to be between 38-40mm, so you may be able to use a https://www.bunnings.com.au/full-boar-38mm-spade-bit-fsb-38_p0725701 or a https://www.bunnings.com.au/diablo-40-x-152mm-speedemon-spade-bit_p0356812 instead of purchasing a hole saw.

If you'd prefer to keep the hole as small as possible, I'd suggest contacting an electrician. They could advise whether the plug can be safely removed, the cable passed through a smaller hole, and then a suitable plug reattached.
