I am looking at options for closing the gap between my neighbours side and mine. Under the fenceline, there are some bricks as you can see, but they aren't close to the fence & there is a lot of weeds and grass that comes through their side onto ours.
The white timber in the soil shows where the soil / mulch will finish & so that is the space I have free, that I want to block between the white timber line and the fence. On top of the soil I am having raised garden beds. Parts not covered by raised garden beds in that area will have pebbles, still not going over the brick at the front or the white timber at the back.
Top gap is about 27cm max and bottom gap is 13cm at the smallest part.
What I was thinking was H4 timber sleeper, Google recommended ACQ, over the other which i'm assuming is CCA. Does it matter, when the plants won't really be accessing that area?
Or is there a better option? Budget is my biggest concern, but also, don't want to maintain frequently either.
What sort of layering system is recommended for the pebbles section? Currently I am trying to kill onion weed in this section, with Yates Zero. So i'm guessing I need to go quite deep with preparing once I eventually get to that stage.
Can I prepare/layer the entire area the same way, then plonk the raised garden bed on top of the pebbles? Or do I need to prep garden bed areas and pebbled areas as 2 different spaces? I am using the Birdies brand of Garden beds.
I have lots of newspaper & a few cardboard boxes for layering the area. Is that good enough for the pebbled area? Or do I need to do something better, for long term protection.
Many thanks from West of the Blue Mountains NSW region.
