Does anyone have any idea how these tracks are supposed to be mounted? Every other curtain rail I have ever mounted has had a semi oval holder into which the rails clip (see image 1 attached). These don't have any such thing and only have a small metal bracket/protrusion (image 2) which, it seems, is designed to slip into the plastic end of the rail (image 3) as shown in image 4. But this doesn't hold it securely and the rail moves about on the metal bracket.
Am I being a little stupid and missing something? Or are there missing parts? The instruction sheet is worse than useless. Any assistance welcome. Thanks Chris
Hi @Senyai
"Am I being a little stupid"
I'm certain you're not. Is that square nut spot-welded to the chrome/gal angle bracket? I get the impression with the third photo and the assembled rail you mark the outer length on the wall. Then remove the bolt and the inner rail. Screw the outer white brackets to the wall - then re-insert the rail and attach the bolt. Note you can adjust the forward/backward projection of the rail.
Now, I'm just plucking at ideas here…
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, Chris (@Senyai). It's wonderful to have you with us and many thanks for your question on mounting curtains. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your new curtain rail set.
The mounting system is certainly a little different from the clip-in brackets you might have encountered previously. The metal tab on the bracket has an upturned hook that engages with the end of the rail and the plastic fitting fitted to it. From your photos, it appears that this hooked section is engaged as intended.
Could you provide a little more detail about the movement you're experiencing? Is the rail simply able to move slightly up and down while attached, or does it feel like it isn't securely engaged and could come away from the bracket? Once you slot the hooked tab into the end plastic fitting on the rail, the rail should drop down and lock onto it. The only movement you should see is if you physically push it up off the hook.
If the hook is engaged and the rail remains securely attached, some movement might simply be a characteristic of this mounting system. However, if it's coming away from the bracket or not supporting the rail correctly, then we can take a closer look at whether something isn't fitted correctly or a component is missing. If you continue to have issues, the team at Gale Pacific has recommended that you contact them directly on Ph:1800 331 521 so they can troubleshoot the issue with you.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello @Senyai
Upon closer inspection, I believe the 1st picture is referring to the https://www.bunnings.com.au/zone-interiors-280-500cm-white-idaho-hand-drawn-expanding-curtain-track_p0088878 which has the semi oval holder that you were referring to.
The following photos appear to be the https://www.bunnings.com.au/zone-interiors-150-280cm-white-montana-hand-drawn-explanding-curtain-track_p0088873 . They have different mounting systems, and the White Montana has the slip and clip instead of the semi oval mounting system.
I've placed a close-up photo of the mounting systems below with the White Idaho first and the White Montana second. I suspect that the White Montana's slip and clip must be screwed tightly and firmly to prevent the rail from lifting or twisting.
However, if you wish to exchange the rail for the White Idaho, I propose putting everything back into the packaging and bringing it back to the store where you purchased it from along with your docket. I suggest speaking to the customer service team at the front of the store and informing them that you would like to exchange the rail for another unit.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Thanks for all the suggestions and notes. So, from what I gather, I had attached the rail to the end piece as it is supposed to be attached. It just seemed weird to me that it moved about so much. I will go ahead and mount the end to the architrave and then install the rod. Hopefully it will work as suggested without too much movement once the rod is installed at the right length
