How to get rid of kikuyu lawn?

Hi i have been wanting to make our front yard look nice and beautiful for while but we keep getting kikuyu lawn growing back making our front yard look ugly which as been putting me off doing it.

We would like to know how we could get rid of the kikuyu and hopefully stop it from coming back so we can make and turn our front yard into a nice garden or something else that also beautiful.

If we could get some advice and help on this that would be great.

Your lawn appears to be showing some very stressful conditions such as compacted soil, weed infestation and patchy uneven growth. Kikuyu is a vigorous lawn grass that spreads rapidly through underground stems (rhizomes) and above-ground runners (stolons), which means it can readily spread into neighbouring lawns and garden beds.

Finding the main source of the Kikuyu can be difficult because its runners and underground rhizomes can spread some distance through the lawn. Targeted spot treatment is often more practical, especially when Kikuyu is growing through your lawn. Apply an appropriate herbicide carefully to the Kikuyu leaves only, avoiding the surrounding lawn, and repeat as new shoots appear. Manual removal is also an option.

However, I would also like to suggest thinking about removing the old left over lawn and re-laying your garden with new turf. This will give your garden a fresh start and you'll be able to keep an eye on your lawn and remove any invading weed or growth that happens to land on it.
