Hi guys 🙂 I was wondering if anyone had any stories about installing a shower filter? We're thinking of putting one in our bathroom but don't know if we should DIY or get someone to do it.
Welcome to Workshop @innyinny. It's great to have you join us. I hope you find the site to be informative and offer plenty of great ideas and inspiration.
I'm sure community members will be keen to assist with advice about the shower filter.
Jason
Hi @innyinny,
I had to Google shower filter as I had no idea what it was. What's in your water that you want to filter out? I imagine getting a plumber is the best bet - DIY plumbing can be a disaster.
G'day innyinnyThis will be the shortet post that I've made, please ring the lovely people at PSIfilters on 1800-305-579, I guarantee you won't regret it. Their inventory is massive, so don't waste your time trying to nut out what you want/need on-line, they'll have an honest answer in a snap. They're genuinely out to please, their prices are extremely competitive, all items are quality (no knock-offs), & shipping is lightning fast. We've dealt with them several times, & been over the moon with everything that we've bought from them.
Hi Andy_Mann,
Do they do filters to remove fluoride - which unfortunately is in our town supply??? and chlorine

Time for bed.... good night
@Janina_G
Sorry for not seeing your reply until now, but PSI Filters are amazing, they have plenty of options from individual outlets that can be chosen to cover individual needs, to whole of house systems.
If your main concern is Chlorine & Fluoride, it will be easily dealt with.
Give them a call for sure, tell them what concerns you, & they'll put you on track for the best way to go about it.
They're super qualified & honest, you can't go wrong.
Thanks Andy,
Dont worry about not seeing the post.... I was so slow I couldnt sign in, and then silly me keyed in my email incorrectly, so I didnt get the pw reset email.... Yes Fluoride and Chlorine are my main problems..... and whole house is what I want, and it good to know there is someone honest.
Thanks very much
JaninaG
G'day Janina
All good, I only realised that my post got through this morning, I thought I'd lost it last night when I accidentally refreshed the page. I asked Jason for help on Auto Retrieve, & got his answer this morning, only to find that the message had gone through successfully anyway. I try my best, but I'm easily confused, so there's no need for you to feel alone about being silly. ; )
The other thing I didn't mention about PSIFilters, is that they recommend what's best for you, & not what's best for them.
Good luck
John
I looked up the PSI Filter site yesterday morning to check on Fluoride removal, & the best option is Reverse Osmosis, but, they don't have the flow rate capacity for whole of house purposes. If Fluoride in drinking water is your main concern, then an undersink Reverse Osmosis installation where needed, would fix that for you.
As for the Chlorinated water, their standard Whole of House systems will deal with that, & your garden will thank you for fitting it.
Hope this helps, because I've had a couple of brain fade days while trying to help.
Best wishes & good luck
Thanks Andy_Mann,
I have had a few brain dead days this week.
Had a FBook friend from Malaysia visit with 3 friends, and they had a whale of a time in the country, and then took me back to Melbourne while they shopped till they dropped.
Unfortunately it was me that was worn out, though I had a fabulous time, They shopped but didnt drop, I on the other hand remember why I HATE shopping so much.
Still it was a good week and they returned to Malyasia this morning and I came home and slept the avo away, Needless to say I had hundreds of emails to go through.
LOLl
Re Filter, I do need the Fluoride gone as well as Chlorine.... not just for drinking, but bathing etc,,, I can tell when there is too much it affect my lungs, eyes hair etc... Doesnt help to have 2 inherited autoimmune conditions.... Usually it not bad, but Some days the smell and tast is disgusting [Chlorine] We usually try to remove some buy have glass containers in sun but that doesnt deal with the so called Fluoride...
I meant to ring them but got sidetracked having and extra good time...:) So will have to get into it next week.
I will love it, and my garden should as well....
Thanks for taking the time to let me know
Blessings and have a great weekend
Do the Fluoride ones come for single taps???
So glad that you had a great week, but sorry about your immune woes to Fluoride.
Chlorine is easy, & comes standard in Whole of House, but Reverse Osmosis doesn't (unless you're cool with handing them $8000).
All is not lost though, I' didn't mention it before because I assumed that Fluoride in your drinking water was all that mattered, but there are Activated Alumni cartridges that will do the job. Only thing is, I couldn't find any details like cartridge size & flow rate on the site. : (
If you give them a call, they'll steer you right, & it'd be great if you could post here what they suggest, because Fluoride is particularly nasty stuff.
Good morning Andy_Mann,
Thank You, Will have to ring on Monday, as closed today, so will ask and post back here.
Now I am off to celebrate albeit reluctantly... Just got told we are going out tonight to Celebrate birthdays, Mine is Monday, Nephew is Tues [coming down from QLD] Neice his sister Thu, So my "baby" bro, has organised a night out to celebrate, As Neice's Hubby taking her away for weekend.
Now will have to go walking off all the Asian food this week LOL.. after I look for small bathroom basin at Bunnings. They are open... So here goes 🙂
Have a great weekend
Blessings and thanks
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETHEART : )
LOL, I rang the co, and they can help with Chlorine for house but not Flouride, no waterflow.
Did say that if I used tank water it could be done, but recommended cement tank no PVC,
I had never heard of PVC, was thinking about metal tank. no real info on that.
So now to look for cement tank - if they still make them.
If I had a 5000 ltr tank it would cost $300 for unit and $30 year for filter and $75 every 5 years for embryo
From what I understood - and its my birthday 🙂 they can do house for chlorine fo 500 and kitchen fluoride $570, so if I understood correctly, I would be better getting a water tank as cheaper to run, also less in water bills, and my garden will love me.....????
So now off to look for cement tanks and cost them or find a second hand metal one....
Thanks again, had a great day, doing what I wanted, exactly nothing.
We had a birthday outing on Sat as neices birthday on 9, Nephew on 7, so partied then and did what I wanted today....
Have a geat week.
I'm glad that you had the Birthday that you wanted, & I might be able to build on your day.
The "Whole of House" will deal with the Chlorine, we all agree on that.
If I'm understanding what he said about the water tank, I think he's saying to use it as a ready supply of Reverse Osmosis treated water to remove spontaneous surges of water useage, as Reverse Osmosis on its own has a dismal flow rate. Good idea.
Thing is, you could run your rain water (no Fluoride) into it as well, which will lessen the load on the Reverse Osmosis media & membrane, saving you more money.
Oh, & a metal tank will be fine.
Pop the bubblie kid.
Hi Andy, You got it,
Only thing i wasnt clear on was that the rain tank would be rain water, apart from when I need to top up with town, if we have a drought etc...
so now to find a reasonable tank.... I think the biggest cost will be the stand as the higher it is the better he said..... so I want one of those slim line so I can put on east and west walls so that will also keep the house cooler in summer and warmer in winter, and if I plan it right and paint the right colour it will almost we warm when it hit the hot water..... Will also get a tank for shed so no more town water...
BUT wait, have to finish renos first.....but i am learning
NOW I AM GOING TO BED,,, need the rest to work tomorro
@Janina_G, it's been a while since we chatted about your health troubles with mains water, so I thought you might be interested in my latest find.
It's pricy, but it does everything that you want, & has good water flow rate (unlike Reverse Osmosis systems), so I'm pretty excited about it. 😀
Whole House Fluoride & Chlorine Removal Water Filtration System Complete with Hard Water Protection & Kinetic Water Energiser - H3O2
Hi Any_Mann,
Have been busy renovating, and slowly.
I have also been checking, but will have a looky see.
Thanks to the vaccination lies, I found out the borax, and a few other ingredient added to drinking water flush the fluoride and chlorine out, also having bath not shower also helps, it has been an interesting time..... but will follow up and see, the unit was is easier....
so more research for me LOL
Blessings
