Recently, I turned my boring ugly backyard into an amazing sitting area using the brand new Ekodeck decking. Here are a few photos of the different stages and the final finished deck.

Thanks Mitch. Yes this was a DIY project. Never done before so was first for me. Learned heaps. Any questions from members most welcome.
Nice!
Nice work! The precision looks fabulous and great choice of the ecodeck you used. Kudos!!

Let me mention @asifkhawaja so they are alerted to your kind comments about their project. I was also particularly impressed with the precision of their work.

@MitchellMc Good to be a part of this community.
I will definitely seek help for great outdoor ideas.😊
Looks fantastic. Well done @asifkhawaja. I'm sure it will be something you can enjoy with friends and family for many, many years to come.
Great to have you join the community.

You've done an awesome job @asifkhawaja !
Fantastic job mate - Looks tops! I have to build somthing similar to hide my front porch tiles and improve the look of my house (in the distant future I still have structural things to fix here first) Ill definatly hit you up for some tips and see how your ecodecks fairing at some stage in the future 🙂 Thanks for sharing photos of your job 🙂 Helps people like me figure out what I will need to buy later on also lols
Is it possible to use this product to replace our current decking, by just removing the top planks? the structure is solid, but the treated pine planks are a bit warped - have been down for about 12 years I think, and not well maintained (blaming hubby lol)
Hi @FranMM,
Thanks for joining in the discussion and a very warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. We're really pleased to have you join us and look forward to reading about all your projects and plans for around the house and garden. We're sure you will get plenty of helpful information, advice and inspiration from our wonderful members.
I suspect members would need a lot more information about your deck structure and your goals for the project before recommending what approach to take. I would encourage you to start a new discussion and post as much detail as possible about your deck and your requirements, including photographs so members can see what you are working with. Let me also tag @MitchellMc so he can share his thoughts when he is back on the site tomorrow.
Thanks,
@asifkhawaja
Great Job!!! Looks amazing!!! what timber do you use for the framing?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @fcardenas. It's great to have you join us and many thanks for your question.
Let me mention @asifkhawaja to see if they can fill you in on what timber they used for the framing. It appears to be H3 treated pine and I'll leave the sizes to @asifkhawaja as I would only be guessing otherwise.
Do you have a decking project in the works?
It would be great to hear more about your project and we'd encourage you to let us know if you ever need assistance or have something to share with us. I trust you'll find loads of inspiration within the community as our fantastic members are contributing their projects here all the time.
Thanks @fcardenas. I used H3 treated Pine 45x140mm as most of it is above the ground. Anything goes under ground, I would use H4 treated.
Hope that helps.
Thank you @asifkhawaja & @MitchellMc for the information.. Im currently in the progress and early stages of designing a deck and this is very useful.. I will be creating a new discussion once i have all the questions I have.. appreciate your help!!!
Hello may i know the materials that you bought from bunnings and if possible, also the cost please?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @ongbianca88. It's great to have you join us and many thanks for your questions.
I see above that @asifkhawaja mentions they used Treated Pine Outdoor Timber Framing 140 x 45mm for the frame and it appears they have used Pryda Joist Hanger Suits 45 x 140mm to support them. They have used Ekodeck for the planking.
Let me mention @asifkhawaja to see if they would like to provide an approximate cost for the project.
Please let us know if you need any help with your project or would like to share it with us. I trust you'll find loads of inspiration within the community as our fantastic members are contributing their projects here all the
Quality work right there @asifkhawaja. Well done. 👍
Big fan of the colour choice too.
@ongbianca88 I think @MitchellMc has already mentioned the major material that I used. There are lots of other smaller things that you will need like posts or stirrups (depending on how you are planning your deck frame), screws, hidden kit for Ekodeck, etc that I am sure you will figure out as you plan.
The cost estimate, if you look at mine, it cost me roughtly around $6,500 - and more that half of that was just the Ekodeck boards.
thanks @Aussie-Garden , I love the colour, matches with my over all colour scheme.
Nice work...
Hi Mate, your finished project looks amazing. Can I ask what you used for framing on the ones sitting on your alfresco tiles? And how you secured them?
Hi @jim1986,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. We're really happy to have you join us and look forward to reading about all your projects and plans for around the house and garden. We're sure you will get plenty of helpful information, advice and inspiration from our clever and creative community members.
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you, but let me tag @asifkhawaja for you so they are alerted to your question about the framing.
Are you planning your own decking project? Feel free to hit the Start a discussion button and share details, We'd be happy to help.
Thanks @jim1986 . I used treated pine Framing 70 x 35mm and fixed them with screws/plugs (example here). I had to pre-drill holes in tiles for the screws and plugs. Hope that helps.
Good work @asifkhawaja ! I am thinking of the same colour scheme with the ecodeck. Will definitely hit you up with more info when I start my DIY project lol.
I notice you put some linings for the drainage? Did you have any issue with water flooding around the deck area?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @ichu. It's amazing that you've joined us and many thanks for jumping into the conversation.
Hopefully, @asifkhawaja will get back to you shortly with the answers to your questions.
We certainly look forward to hearing all about your deck project and would encourage you to let us know if you need any assistance or have questions. I trust you'll find the community full of helpful members always willing to share their knowledge.
Hi @ichu , sorry could you elaborate what you mean by linings? If you are referring to that black sheet underneath, that is to prevent the weed growth under the deck.
Awesome jobs... the lighting really finishes it off...
Hi @asifkhawaja Top notch. You've done a fantastic job. The finish looks very professional.
I've got something similar to work with. I want mine to be level with the step, and only have 60mm to work with (Distance from tile step to concrete) and your option would be perfect for this to have a smaller frame on the cement. I'm thinking about using the 70x35mm + 19mm thick decking board, therefore, would come up to 54mm from the cement.
Have you secured your smaller frame to the house? or is it sitting on the cement?
Hi @sankhadlt treated pine Framing 70 x 35mm for that concrete area sounds good and yes I fixed them to my alfresco tiles with screws/plugs (example here). I had to pre-drill holes in the tiles for the screws and plugs. In your case the concrete area seems sloping outwards so you would need to make sure the frame sits leveled on the concrete. Hope that helps.
