Tips for getting your house organised

I'm still doing my spring cleaning and have plenty more to do, but I do like the idea of starting the year with a fresh, clean and organised home. What are your tips for getting your house organised for the new year?

My tip would be to take your time and be prepared to make a big mess first. Pull out everything from cupboards etc and decide whether you really need or want it, wipe down all surfaces, etc. But again, make sure you aren't starting the job the day before you have guests coming over! You don't want a deadline to create stress.

My tip would be to organise a hard rubbish collection. We booked one recently and it's a fantastic incentive to have a good clean-out.
