Hiding a pool cover roller
Just wondering if anyone has seen any nifty solutions for hiding a pool cover and roller. I'm thinking maybe we could have something like a timber box near the end of the pool with a hinged lid so it could double as a seat?

Plants for around a pool
Our budget for the pool isn't going to stretch far enough for landscaping, but we're going to have to get rid of a few trees and bushes when putting it in. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for plants that will cope OK with being near a pool? We're going for a salt-water pool and imagine the kids will splash…

Tips for dealing with a green pool
This is the colour of our pool at the moment: It's very pretty but probably not the best for swimming in. It's a saltwater fibreglass pool. The pool went green last weekend, presumably because the chlorine level had got too low. So I superchlorinated and got the water checked. It got the all clear from the pool shop -…

Moving from cable internet to NBN
We've finally got NBN in our street and I'm thinking about signing up. I've had Telstra cable internet for over 10 years and am happy with it, although they just put the price up. 🙁 I understand that you don't get fibre to the house - I wish! Just wanted to know whether the new NBN connection uses the old copper telephone…

Cleaning pavers
Just wondering how everyone cleans their stone pavers? Or more importantly, the grout between the pavers. We're finding it gets a little grubby and the pressure washer alone isn't doing the job. But I'm wary about using any chemicals for fear of ruining the stone. Any suggestions appreciated.

Cracking in stone pool copers
We've had large cracks develop in one of our corner pool copers since the stone was laid about 12 months ago. And in a couple of others the mortar has cracked and/or fallen out from movement. After we complained, the paver that we hired said six months ago that he would order a replacement corner coper and chaulk the gaps.…

Removing sunscreen stains from stone paving
Another pool-related question. I've noticed our new natural stone pavers have some stains on them. I presume it is the oil from guests applying sunscreen near the pool. I've tried blasting with the pressure hose but it didn't have much of an effect. Any other suggestions? I am starting to think we made a mistake when the…

Water clarifier - does it work?
This is our first summer with a pool and it got plenty of use over Christmas. Sometimes the water looked a little murky after plenty of use - probably all the sunscreen. Just wondering whether water clarifier is worth the cost to get the sparkle back or is just the regular cleaning and chlorine regime sufficient? Thanks…

Furniture for lazing around the pool
Hey all, I'm looking for some recommendations about furniture for lazing around poolside. I'm thinking something soft rather than those traditional hard sun loungers. Particularly for ease of storage. Anyone tried these - https://www.bunnings.com.au/mojo-classic-pinstripe-mylounge-outdoor-cushion_p3192104? Are they…

What should I look for in a paint spray gun?
I'm thinking about buying a spray gun to paint our fences, which are a little old and unslightly at the moment. They seem pretty cheap and I hear they save a lot of time compared to using a brush. I'm just not sure what to look for. Anyone got any tips about what to look for and what to avoid?

Hole in the wall
The kids have put a hole in the plaster wall. It’s about 20cm in diameter. I’m not much of a DIY expert but thought I’d have a go at repairing it. Any tips? Will just a filler work or do I need some board? Joe

Artificial grass
We are considering artificial grass for a small section of our front yard as it seems easier than planting turf. Any negatives we should consider beyond ensuring that we get one that looks as real as possible and has as few joins as possible? Has anyone had experience with DIY and artificial turf? I've attached a photo I…
