10 years ago today we started inviting some hand-picked people to be the founders of a new online community for home improvement help and inspiration.

Although deliberately small, our community was soon a special place. Welcoming. Friendly. Respectful. Encouraging. Helpful. Accessible.

Our founders set the tone for what was to come, eagerly sharing their D.I.Y. projects, experiences and advice.

Over the past 10 years, the community has grown dramatically and Workshop members have bravely shared many thousands of inspiring projects and taken the time to help countless people who need a hand.

If you browse sections like Featured Projects, Top Ideas or Best Advice you can quickly see why thousands of people across Australia and New Zealand now come to Bunnings Workshop every day to get ideas and advice from our community for everything in their homes from the front nature strip to the back fence.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their experiences over the past 10 years. We really appreciate every contribution and look forward to seeing what you can achieve in your home over the next decade ahead.

Love the page! I think its a good place to solidfy ideas, bounce what ifs off others and then if/when we get stuck someone else will prob have an answer  Definently a good place to wander through and pretty nice when we get to talk to the people doing their projects

Being part of the Bunnings Workshop community has been a privilege for me. Watching members grow in confidence, learn new skills and complete projects they once thought were beyond them is incredibly rewarding.

I still remember the first time I attempted anything close to DIY. I was sixteen, standing in wood tech class at school, trying to screw two pieces of timber together to make a simple butt joint. I can picture it vividly, the joint falling apart again and again while I stood there thinking this just was not for me. I honestly believed I would never be someone who could build or fix anything. That memory stays with me and often comes to mind when I see new members arrive feeling unsure or out of their depth.

This community thrives because our members are generous with their knowledge, encouraging to beginners and proud of what they create. It remains a welcoming place where anyone can take their first step into DIY, ask a question, feel supported, and I am grateful to play a small part in that.

Everyone who has played a part in building this community should feel exceptionally proud of what they have created.

You're making me feel very excited about being here!

For a while now I have had a disconnected feeling?

Younger family members inform 'That's what happens Dad as you get older, people will tend to bypass you...'.

Since I joined the workshop in April I feel more connected and even cancelled my counselling sessions 🙂

Same as @MitchellMc I went to tech school.in the sixties and final year project choice was a coffee table.

Cheers

I found it to be a great place to show what we have been all up to, good or bad , some mistakes, but there is so much knowledge in here without being judged, that i recommend people to join it
