How to fix shower tap leaking?

I have this type of shower that is leaking a bit. How do I change the gasket to fix the leak and what gasket do I buy from Bunnings? Thank you!IMG_6412.jpeg

Re: How to fix show leakinh

Hi @archerwinmakes,

Thank you for your question about repairing a leak from your shower.

Where exactly is the leak coming from? The hose connection? Or from behind the taps?

Identifying the location of the leak will help me to assist you better.

If it is from the handles on the wall, you may need to replace the spindles. These types of taps usually use a quarter turn spindle. You'd have to remove the existing ones and bring them in store with you to compare them with the new ones to ensure you are getting a like for like replacement. Check out

If the leak is coming from the hose connection, then you may need to replace the thread seal tape around the pipe connection on the wall.

Once you let me know where the leak is coming from, I'm happy to offer further guidance.

it’s coming from the shower head

Re: How to fix show leakinh

Hi @archerwinmakes,

If it is coming from the shower head when the taps are turned off, there's a good chance it is the tap valves at the base of the spindles.

Turn off your water at the mains and remove the hot and cold taps. There will likely be a small grub screw on the taps that you need to remove to take them off. Once they are off, you will have to remove the spindles. Check out How to replace old spindle tap for some guidance.

You can then take the spindles with you to your local store and either replace them like for like, or replace the tap valves at the base of the spindles before reinstalling.

Let me know how you go and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
