How to replace washer in washing machine tap?

The tap is leaking.
I can’t get to the washer 😩

I tried holding steady with one hand and a wrench and turning with the a wrench in the other - it won’t budge!

Re: help to replace washer in washing machine tap

Hi @diy_vvv,

You likely don't have the strength to hold the fitting in your hand and undo it; I know I don't. Here's a trick: pop the tap on the ground and put the spanner on the nut angled up into the air. Step on the tap to hold it in position and then step on the spanner to put pressure on it in an anti-clockwise direction. It's a bit hard to explain, but basically, use your body weight to turn the spanner.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Re: help to replace washer in washing machine tap

Should that not work - reinstall - and use a combination of a shifter and a ring spanner - push and pull in opposite directions. Hoping that makes sense. Less slippage with a ring spanner.

Failing that - new tap? Plumber?

Keep us informed.

Cheers.
