What keyless locks would you recommend?

Digital keyless locks that come with both fingerprint access and a keypad option provide the best of both worlds. They can be quick and easy for family members to use. And if a member of your family ever forgets the code, they can still access the door. Giving access to friends, guests, or tradies via a code is also super simple.

These look nifty - I like the idea of the push/pull handle, especially being able to open the door when your hands are full. Our neighbour recently installed a different Samsung model and is happy with it. - MartyH

The Whitco handles I currently have installed have a key override - you can slide the face plate off the handle and there is a standard lock hiding there. The Assure Lock which I'm thinking of getting forgoes the need for a backup keyed lock by having a terminal below the lock with a 9V contact point so if you ever get truly locked out you just keep a 9V battery in your car and you can power up the lock again. - maknilsin

I prefer the handle too. This works in tandem with whatever handle you like. It’s just a smart deadbolt - keypad, control from smartphone, etc. Def want to have a key override.

Just curious … Is there any smart locks for screen security doors? They all appear to be for the timber door which is great, but you still need a key for the security door.

The availability of smart locks for security screen doors is more limited, but we have the Yale Silver Unity Security Screen Door Lock, or we can order the Yale Silver Unity Security Screen Door Lock with Keypad.

Finding one you can actually lock from the inside is a feature I would look for, unfortunately the one that came with our house has no way to lock from the inside so kids can just open the door. It either means we now have to install another smart deadbolt or swap to one that does.

The good news is that the Yale Silver Unity Security Screen Door Lock can be manually locked from the inside with a press of a button on the unit itself. You also have the option of controlling the lock through your phone.

If anything, insurance providers typically consider smart locks more secure than traditional keyed locks due to their enhanced features, such as automatic locking and remote monitoring. However, it's important to choose a high-quality smart lock from a reputable manufacturer that meets the insurance provider's standards. I live in an apartment and I'm looking to replace my current smart lock because it doesn't meet the Australian Standard AS1905.1 2005 for passive fire protection, can anyone recommend any that meets that standard?

I suggest having a look at the Assa Abloy Lockwood Cortex Digital Door Lock. It has been successfully tested up to 2 hours on fire door assemblies in accordance with Australian Standard AS1905.1 2005. If you wish to see more details here is the link to the Lockwood Cortex information page.
