Bright coastal kitchen makeover on a budget

This thoughtful D.I.Y. makeover brought a fresh, modern look to a dated kitchen.

The project

 

We’re so happy with the result of our kitchen makeover. To create a modern coastal look on a budget we: 

• Painted all cupboards using White Knight Tile & Laminate Paint in Cotton Ball
• Replaced benchtops with a 38mm Think benchtop in Bianco
• Installed VJ paneling on the front of the bench
• Replaced appliances
• Installed a new white sink and brass mixer
• Replaced cupboard handles
• Replaced tiles
• Bought new rattan stools from Bunnings.

It was mostly smooth sailing, but we could have had a bit of a hiccup with the VJ paneling. My partner had cut it to size and painted it, but just before installing my Dad suggested to my partner that they should hold it up to make sure it fit before glueing. Lucky they did because a section had to be cut shorter. Crisis averted!
