Hume Pine mouldings and subtle paint colours applied with a limewash effect helped to transform a heritage home's lounge room.
The project
I renovated our main lounge with wood moulding panels on the wall to create texture and movement. I then finished this off by hand painting a faux lime wash look, using acrylic paint in a Resene fossil and biscotti combo. To finish off the look, I added white sheer curtains to contribute to the dreamy and romantic aesthetic, creating a space that you never want to leave.
Steps
Step 1
I drew a blueprint of the mouldings after measuring out the room. I then taped up the dimensions with masking tape to ensure I was happy with it
Step 2
After selecting the Bolection mouldings I used an angle saw to cut the required measurements
Step 3
Using the wood glue and nail gun I attached this to the wall, then filled and sanded before caulking the edges.
Step 4
Using Resene paint in biscotti and 1/4 fossil, I added them to Resene white to create the saturation level that I was happy with, before painstakingly hand painting on two coats to create a faux lime wash effect.
Step 5
Installed sheet curtains.
