Updating your living room or lounge is a great way to showcase your personal sense of style and make the space more functional for relaxing and entertaining.
From painting walls to building furniture, Bunnings Workshop members have shared many ways to make their living rooms more inviting and comfortable. Get inspired by the examples below and let us know if you have any questions.
1. Make a feature wall
A feature wall is a great way to add interest to your living room. Pete (@ProjectPete) transformed a plain brick wall in his living room into a gorgeous feature using EasyVJ panels.
Adding privacy to your living room allows you to relax and entertain in comfort. Josh (@Jwyatt)'s Pine barn door partitions a living area, adding privacy while providing shade from the afternoon sun. Installing curtains or blinds in your living room is also a great idea.
Adding, upcycling or replacing furniture can be a quick and easy way to refresh your living room. Mariana (@lifestylebymari) upcycled an old coffee table by sanding it back to its original colour and adding leather handles.
Make your living room more spacious and modern by mounting your television on a wall. Matt (@mattham)'s D.I.Y. entertainment unit uses laminated Pine panels to provide a television mount – a neat solution for those living in rentals.
Decluttering and re-organising your living room can make it look more presentable. Ben (@Benskimo)'s custom mid-century shelving unit is great for showcasing and organising items. You can change the size and layout to suit your needs.
Revamped floors can make a huge difference in any living room. Community member @RAW created a practical and attractive new lounge room floor by installing Smart Home Products waterproof hybrid planks.
Lighting is great for creating ambience and can dramatically transform the look and feel of your living room. Sandra (@sandy_d) repurposed wooden slats from old Venetian blinds to create a D.I.Y. pendant light fitting.
